Windows Vista no longer supporting simple boot loader files like “boot.ini” as in Windows XP. If you desperately want to edit Vista bootloader you have to understand bcedit.exe command to add, edit or copy OS’es selection.
Don’t sweat, third party software to edit Windows Vista bootloader GUI has been made available.
Both of them available for free.
I didn’t try this yet since I don’t have Vista installed in my H/D now. I have tried before but Aero did not work on my 512MB RAM machine.
Updates, Feb 26:
VistaBootPro is actually a EasyBCD copycat. Thanks to Roger.

You should remove the link to VistaBoot, it’s a copy of EasyBCD that doesn’t give credit and steals intellectual property.
EasyBCD is the real deal, it really works, and it has dozens of features that VBPRO doesn’t have, like support for Linux, OS X, BSD, and more - plus the “advanced” section really works. In VBPRO it’s just a pretty picture.
Thanks for updating your page! :)
