To use www or not to use www bother me sometimes. To answer a buddy asking my website domain name usually I just said to them SimplyBuzz.com (no www), shorter but actually I don’t want to be recognized as “simplybuzz.com”. I think www.simplybuzz.com more suitable.
I experienced that using both versions will make duplicated versions in the search engines which potentially making the right content ends up as supplemental result.
I have just installed WordPress www-redirect plug-in, problem solved.
WordPress www-redirect Plugin Features
- Ability to set redirect to www prefix. (i.e.: www.simplybuzz.com)
- Redirect to non-www prefix. (i.e.: simplybuzz.com)
- Redirect index.php requests to / (root folder)
Another way to force Google Bot indexing only www version is via Google Webmasters Tool, within “Preferred Domain” section.
