Streamyx 512Kbps DSL internet connection finally arrived.
Always on, connection now available at home.

I shall thanks to my housemate that decides to apply for Telekom Malaysia fix line. He said he needs fixed line to use fax machine at home for his personal business.
After figured out that my location (near Kajang) already had Streamyx coverage. So, I proceed to register online. An online application placed on 20th June 2006 by using my friend’s information (of course the fixed line owner) for the Home Basic 512Kbps, without modem. This package costs RM66 per month, with self installation.
After the registration complete, I have waited for 7 days for my account to be activated by TM Net automatically. Actually, the account also can be activated immediately by using SMS system but I’ve entered the wrong mobile phone number that need to be used for activation.
Lots of people complaining about Streamyx customer service quality. Calling them, TM-Net as TM-Nut, because of their lack of customer support, their unbelievable slow DSL speed but some how I’m lucky and happy customer (maybe for now). Their speed was amazingly acceptable. I’m able to download up to 40 to 45KBps constantly without any problem (yet).

Fact about TM Net Streamyx:
- If you thinking to register online and got RM50 rebate on your first bill, make sure you register direct within TM NET official website, not RESELLER/AGENT website. The official link is here https://mips.tm.net.my/SelfCare/SelfcareMain.jsp
- Choose to self install, and save more RM50. Self installation is really simple and easy but if you really don’t know to DIY so perhaps you can ask your friend.
- You may rent modem, but buying a modem yourself might be more save long term. Adding RM11 for modem rental, in 1 year will cost RM132 (RM11×12 month) but the modem is not yours. Some package stated that after 2 years modem rental, the modem is yours.
The cost will be RM264 for a modem. You pay more for their warranty. With RM264 you may buy another modem +ROUTER + 4 port ethernet/LAN port or additional WiFi these days with manufacturer warranty. - ADSL modem or ADSL modem-router? If you modem got router you may got faster latency in connection (with routing algorithm). But the different usually unnoticeable.
- Can’t cancel Streamyx account within 12 month; they will still charging you every month if you just abandon the account.
