10 tech disappointments…with cool names

Microsoft Zune Music Player

Have you ever thought that some tech companies occasionally invest more brainpower in naming their products than in making them successful? You’re not the only one who thinks so. The digital age has been dotted with many a disappointing product that had a tragically awesome name; here are ten of our favorites in no particular order.

Microsoft’s Zune, before its name was made public, was known among gadget geeks as simply the “iPod killer.” And you’ve got to admit, Redmond didn’t do that bad a job of actually naming the device once it got around to it–”Zune” is kind of funky in a post-Star Trek way, right? Unfortunately, as many speculated, the music player was a sales disappointment despite decent reviews. Even opening day interest was tepid, and it probably didn’t help much that the announcement of the sales of one million Zunes came right around the same time that Apple celebrated the sale of its hundred millionth iPod.

Bad News… Google no longer donating traffics!

Damn stupid Analytics logs

As you have seen above was the latest SimplyBuZZ.com pageview logs… After a month actively dedicating lots of time re-developing this blog; adding more features, more plugins & more posts - actually it turns out Google no longer sending the precious traffic to SimplyBuzz.com…

Possible cause…

  • Sidebars. Adding more items on the left sidebars, it turns out I have made a big mistakes. It adds a few more headings <h2></h2> tags which probably drift the page actual topic and made keyword density become lower.
  • sitemap.xml. WorsPress sitemap plug-in turned out can’t be accessed by Google while phisically working fine.
  • robots.txt blocking sitemap.xml. According reports from Google Webmaster Tool, network unreachable while accessing sitemap.xml.
  • site root /index failed to be indexed since July 1.
  • Google thought this site already dead… last crawl July 1 … all new posts since last week never been made into search engine index.

Thats the answer why I’m not in blogging mood in pass few days and sraightly missed 15 blog post since last week…

AdSense Tips: How to increase CTR and Revenues

I’m just summing up what I have gathered since last two years and attempt to repost here. They are gathered from my research from lots of websites and some premium contents.

Here they are:

  • Make sure the ads blends with the page contents and site layout. Made them looks like the site contents. The task is to tell the visitors that the ads are actually site’s content without telling them.
  • Text ads are the best – better CTR on text ads then banner ads. They look like the page contents.
  • Square ads performs better… according to most webmaster, wide banner ads unit having low CTR.
